The Shelton's | WEDDING, FAMILY, & CHILDREN'S PHOTOGRAPHER | MATTOON, ILLINOIS

I grew up in a small town. I know how they are. So, when Nick wanted to move closer to his hometown three years ago, I sighed internally and resigned myself to the fact that I would probably not have close friends for a really long time. Friendships and clicks had been formed years ago. But, how wrong could I be!

Nick and I started going to Sunday School at his hometown church, and that's where I met Lisa. Lisa and her husband had just moved back from Indianapolis, and low and behold, I discovered that we shared the same offbeat, quirky sense of humor. She totally gets my drinking a glass of wine while wearing sweat pants and I totally get her inability to talk on the phone because "she's still processing Michael Jackson's death"...and then we laugh about both things later.

When Nick and I discovered I was pregnant, I put off telling people as long as possible because I was worried about Lisa. I knew she and Brian had been trying to have a baby, too, for a while. And then. One night I was out with Lisa and Brian, and I noticed she was drinking a 7-up. Hmmm. And, then I noticed that she and Brian were whispering in the corner like no one else was around. Hmmm. I grew suspicious.

A few weeks later, Lisa told me that she and Brian were expecting! And, because they had waited so long for their little one, little Zachary decided that he would cut their wait short and cme six weeks early!

Two weeks ago Lisa asked me to take Zachary's baby pictures and a new-and-improved family picture with Zachary in it! Below are my five favorites from the day. Click here to see more.

Thank you, Lisa, for allowing me to capture your new family and also for your sweet, generous friendship. KM

Zachary was all smiles. That's the "Lisa" in him...all ready for the camera!

The family.

Hello, Blue Eyes.

This is his serious pose.

Is there any thing better in life then a baby wrapping it's small hand around your finger?

My favorite from the whole day.

Videos of Colby!

I have SO many things to post! First, I've finally downloaded the videos we've been taking of Colby to my computer. So, please see below the first set of them! I've been working on pictures of the Shelton family with Baby Zachary, and those are coming soon! Last, I (finally) took Colby's pictures last weekend and am working on getting those edited and posted for everyone to see.

As a little treat, here's one that shows how Colby felt about the picture session! Actually, she was a sport and smiled big for the camera most of the time, but seriously, how funny is this photo! I think it's one for her senior yearbook in 18 years!!!

Take care and thanks for checking in!
Kelly

Nick bought Colby this little Pluto dog at the store, and it's one of her favorite toys nowadays.

Colby entertaining me in the exersaucer.

The worst 1st tractor ride ever.

Colby whining...not sure if it's because she's tired or because she can't go to sleep with this loud, crazy sleeper on; however, Cousin Amelia always has fun pj's and I thought she should have some fun, psychedelic PJ's too!

A few older pictures

I was going through some old folders on my computer looking for a specific picture and found a few that I never posted! So, they're probably eight weeks old or so, but I still love them!

In the last nine months, me and my two best friends from high school all had babies. Angie, on the right, had her fourth!...and her first daughter. Erin, on the left, had her second...and her first daughter. And, then me in the center with my first daughter. :)

Here are all three girls: Audrey, Rebekah, and Colby.

One day I captured Colby sucking on her thumb trying to fall asleep. Since then, she's still a major finger-sucker, but nowadays it doesn't matter which finger or which hand like it did then.

My favorite gummy smile. :)

New Milestones for Colby

Colby's been working on lots of new things over the last week or two. Here are a few pictures.

Sitting up - here I have her with the boppie pillow. She's not a fan. It's that whole sitting in a lounging position. If Colby's going to sit up, she wants to be completely up straight. She's doing really well at sitting up on her own now. She can hold the position for quite a while and can pick up things in front of her. It's the side-to-side action that throws her over.

However, when she is lounging, the girl likes to throw her feet up and relax!

She's been doing really well with her cereal. She wrinkles her nose for the first bite and is good from then on out.

Opening her mouth for more!

She's discovered her feet in the last two weeks. Her obsession with them gets in the way of all diaper-changing nowadays.
Thanks for checking in!

New Camera(s)

I have got not just one, but TWO new cameras! I finally ordered my new digital camera I've been wanting forever, and Nick also picked me up a new video camera. So, there are a few images from the new digital camera at the end of this post...new videos to follow at next posting. The first few pictures are just a few snapshots of Colby out and about. Thanks for checking in!

Nick and Colby during her first tractor ride. It was quite eventful...and not in a good way. I dressed her up in the "I Love IH" t-shirt Grandma and Grandpa Rankin got her for Christmas and headed to the field. Nick was less then thrilled that we were interrupting his planting mojo after this very wet spring, and Colby held on for dear life while we were all shoved into the tractor cab. I'm hoping tractor rides at harvest go a little better.

Still loving the exersaucer....a little surprised at the camera.

Hanging out in the recliner. She now will sit up without her back resting on anything; however, as soon as she reaches for something on either side of her, she topples over. We're working on it though!

Colby got to do some test shots for me before Z & O's shoot a couple of weeks ago. These were the first pictures with the new camera, and they've not been retouched at all. It's lovely.

Z & O...and something else I've been working on!

A couple of weeks ago I got the chance to take pictures of my friend Shannon's two children. Shannon has been the most patient of friends. I told her it would take me a couple of weeks to get the pictures edited, but at the end of the two weeks, I called her to see if I could have just a few more days. Why? So that I could show Z & O off on my very new website! Woohoo!
There are a few things that I have to do yet, like upload music, but otherwise, I finally did it..I put together my website. Z & O are my very first 'feature gallery'; so, instead of posting all of my favorite pictures on the blog like I usually do, please head over to http://www.kellymccormickphotography.com/ to see the rest of my favorite images from their shoot!!...and, of course, check out the rest of the site.

Both kids were great sports...when one got tired, we'd switch to working with the other one. We didn't accomplish pictures of both of them together that day, but we're doing pictures of the entire family once spring planting calms down, and we'll be sure to capture those pics then. So, keep your eyes open for a Part II.

To entice you to head over to see the rest of their pictures, here are a few teaser pics!

Oh! What did you just do?! Did you just take my picture AGAIN?!

Hello, future J. Crew model. :)
